  • “The Family Support Institute is looking for a dynamic person to fill a full time position as “Family Support Worker” in the head office located in New Westminster, British Columbia.
    The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to family support calls, resource parent communications and referrals, and other office duties such as lending library management, provincial resource compilation and referral, workshop coordination and select committee representation. Preference will be given to applicants who are a parent or family member of a person with a disability with experience working in the disability field.

    The Family Support Institute has been operating for 23 years and is dedicated to supporting families throughout British Columbia who are faced with the extraordinary challenges that come with having a family member with a disability. We provide non-judgmental, unbiased support on a provincial level. We are looking for someone committed to supporting families throughout BC.

    This full time position will be 35 hours per week in the FSI office.
    The salary is $40,000 per year.

  • FSI Resource Parent Training Weekend 2009
    The Family Support Institute has trained volunteer Resource Parents in many communities throughout BC. These parents have experience raising a child with a disability, and have specialized knowledge in areas such as preschool years, educational opportunities, respite options, family support and advocacy. Resource Parents work voluntarily and independently where they live. For more information on Resource Parents, please go to our Resource Parent page. If you are interested in becoming a Resource Parent, please contact the FSI office.

The next Resource Parent Training Weekend in beautiful Naramata will take place on April 16-19, 2009  (updated May 21, 2008).
